Halloween in New Orleans
Halloween in New Orleans.
New Orleans is the best city in the world to celebrate Halloween. We’re a scary city all year round but we crank it up in October. You want to get the most out of Halloween in New Orleans, so you’ll need costumes! Just one won’t be enough, bring as many as you can pack! Make sure they’re good too! Most locals have attics filled with costumes. We like to dress up! We suggest at least one Pirate costume.
There are numerous Haunted Houses in the area and they’re all great. Music fans will want to check out the Voodoo Music Experience. It’s a three day festival in City Park and it’s a blast every year. You’ll want to carve out time to visit one of the many cemeteries around the city as well. Take a streetcar up St. Charles Avenue because it’s a nice ride and many of the mansions on The Avenue are decorated.
We highly suggest you take some time and just walk the streets of the French Quarter. Many of the buildings and homes are decorated for Halloween and they are scary good! Grab a Bloody Mary, pop a few aspirin and take a morning walk around the Quarter. It’ll be less crowded, and you’ll be able to get some great pictures.
The weekend leading up to Halloween and Halloween night it’s all about the street party. The French Quarter is rocking but you’ll really want to visit Frenchmen Street in the Faubourg Marigny. It is one massive street party with the most incredibly creative and revealing costumes you’ve ever seen. When you go make sure your costume rocks! There’s numerous bars and music clubs and the later the night goes the more the party spills out into the street.
Halloween in New Orleans has so many options you should come back every year! When you do make sure you pack even more costumes!
